Overheating?

I have a 2004 toyota yaris 1.0, my outside temperature guage counts up fast when the enigne has warmed up. it started of at 16 by the time i got to work (30min drive) it reached 26, now the the outside temp at the time was only 15? any idea of what it could be?

Engine overheating-start by checking the thermostat

DO NOT let this engine overheat (where indicator gets into red), it is an all aluminum engine and overheating could cause severe damage.

If it gets into red, pull off road and let it cool.
