2004 Scion xB Repair Question

04 XB won't start
My 2004 Scion XB decided not to start this morning. It has 64K miles. It ran fine when I parked it Saturday. It turns over but doesn't fire off. We're noticing a strange smell from the exhaust when turning over. Any suggestions on where to start?
