Have a 2004 pontiac Gran am that has the transmission locked in park. Will not release by conventional means or the alternate means of turning the key to accessory and taking the switch out of the system. Is it possible for a low battery to cuse this problem. The battery is the origion battery in the wehicle and has 32000 miles on the vehicle

The interlock system is preventing the shifter from being shifted out of park. Check the brake lights. Interlock solenoid needs the brake lighst to work.

The only way the battery is going to affect this is when it is too weak to activste the interlock solenoid to release the shifter.
