On my Mini Cooper, sometimes when I will stop, the whole front end of the car will begin to shake or vibrate pretty violently, it is shaking the entire car and sounds terrible. I have no idea what would cause this kind of a result, it is fine driving and when you are moving, and about half the time when you stop as well, but the other half of the time the car is shaking itself apart. What could cause this, bad parts in the transmission?

If it happens when you apply your brakes have them checked.

It is not when I am slowing down, it is when the car is at a standstill and I have my foot on the brake to keep it from moving because it is an automatic. Not a brake problem. I am guessing something in the front end or transmission, but I just want to know where would be a good place to start checking it out

Next time please detail it more on your explanation. Check for a broken /loose motor mount and also check for amaybe aloose torque converter as well as scan for codes to see if there is a misfire.
