MG ZR Radiator Problem

Ok here we go ! when i 1st start my motor on a morning its doesnt take long to heat up!! goes up to half way on the temp gague on the dash! it stops at half way when driving but when i sit idle for 4/5 mins the temp starts to rise and the rad/fan doesnt kick in ???? with out the fan on would it cause the engine to heat up so much? or could my cooling system not be working ??

we have no info on this car, but check the fan relay in your relay/fuse box and then with fans disconnected check radiator for cold spots. if you have any cold spots the radiator is bad. but make sure system is full andit might be another issue like t stat or head/intake gasket problem.
