AN OVERHEATING ISSUE POSSIBLY RELATED AN ENGINE OR EXHAUST ISSUE

2004 Infiniti G35 • 141,000 miles

My issue started this summer. My coolant ran low. I topped it up with Prestone 50/50 mix. Used the car in the city for around a month and everything was running fine.
I took a 15,000 mile road trip after this. I first noticed the temperature gauge rise to around the 3/4 mark when we were driving through Iowa where the temperature was around 39 degrees(102F). It remained around this level until the outside temperaturs dropped in the evening. The next day we left Denver to head up to Aspen. It was an immediate climb. The car started overheating again. Had to pull over and turn the heat in the car on full to drop the temperature of the engine. The coolant in the reservior tank was bubbling over. The overheating happened everyday on the course of our road trip. Usually only when the AC was running. Learned how to keep it under control. When we got back home, I took it to the Infiniti dealership. They did a coolant flush, changed the thermostat, engine flush using transmission oil, changed the spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body.
My car is still overheating on hot days with the AC running. It happens when i'm stuck in traffic or starting the car, getting out and re-starting the car. The car re-starts with hesitation, not the way it sounds when I start it up in the morning. Not a starter issue though.
With the temperature not as hot outside anymore, the car has stopped overheating but the fans do come on quite often. There is also a ticking sound coming from the underside of the car. The hesitation is still there when re-starting the car after driving for some time. I have just noticed that there is nothing coming out of one of the tail pipes of the dual tail exhaust. The exhaust rattles a little and fires a little when reving the engine. Finally the gas gauge is slightly off for the last month or so. When I fill up, it is not rising to F, but around 1/8 lower than full.
Any help or advice on how to approach any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. Was also wondering if these issues are the symtoms of one issue that needs attention.

Thank you,

Overheating: Get it block and pressure tested

Fuel gauge: Have the fuel sending unit checked
