Why is my car doing this?
I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu Ls. Not all the time, but sometimes when I go to start my car it will start but it cranks for about 10 seconds before it turns over. Also I was driving today and I had to stop at a stop sign, when I went to give it gas to go it wouldnt move. I turned my car off, started it back up and it ran fine.

I would check fuel pressure. I would bet the fuel pump is going bad.
on the hard start symptom it sounds like the fuel is over night draining back into the tank causing it to have an extended crank.
