Hello. My name is Michelle and I have a 2003 Volvo S40 which does'n start anymore; it cranks but doesn't start, looks like is flooding. I changed the sparks, it started very quickly and after I turned it off it did'n start again and smells like gas everywhere. The computer test shows temperature sensor fault. Could be the sensor the culprit? After 10 -15 minutes of attempts to start the engine, if it starts, the rpm goes to 1500-1600 like you press the gas pedal. Please help, thanks

Information from the coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is. If the sensor is saying it is extremely cold, the computer will compensate by adding fuel to the engine so it can run in extreme conditions. If conditions aren't extreme, it can flood and do what you described.
