My car will not start. It turns over but will not "catch", sounds like the engine is flooded. The lights turn on the dash and radio works. It takes about ten tries, then it does catch and start. It did this once a few weeks ago, then has been fine since, and did it again today.

This is typical when the fuel pumps starts to go out which will give you low fuel pressure. To be sure you can go the auto parts store and rent a fuel pressure gauge and follow this guide to help.

This guide may help as well

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-cranks-excessively-before-starting

Fuel Pressure
At Idle .................... 301 - 347 kPa (3.1 - 3.5 kgf/cm2, 44 - 50 psi)
Engine Off .................... 147 kPa (1.5 kgf/cm2, 21 psi) or more

Here is how to change out the fuel pump which is under a trap door. The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly located underneath the rear seat cushion inside the fuel tank. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes
