2003 Saturn L200 Repair Question

We have a 2003 Saturn L200 and it sounds like there is a bolt loose in a can on the passenger side. In reverse it clicks n grinds on that side. I looked under the car and the muffler/exhaust was smoking. Im at a loss because nothing appears to be loose or

Is it inside or outside the vehicle?

it sounds like the outside of the vehicle

Check the front brake assembly on that side and also the driveaxle
