Ok, so my car was having a heat/cold air issue. Then it did start leaking coolant and overheating. Took it in to be looked at $550 to fix "cracked intake gasket" they fixed but havent released car because it is still overheating and going from blowing hot to cold air. They just called me and told me it is now a "blown head gasket" quote is $1600. They arent charging me for all of the 550 because the problem wasnt fixed. Does this sound right? Please help.

Are you sure it actually had a intake gasket issue and wasnt a bad head gasket all along? Also what is your zip code so I can give you some prices for repairs in your area.

The intake is very common leak. The blown head gasket is from the overheating.
They are doing it right with not charging you for the first repair.

The estimate sounds good. Around here in Ca. It would be about 20% more.
