2003 navigator. Driving under a hard excelleration to pass a car then stopped in traffic 1 minute later the engine turned off. Tried to start would not crank over. I manually turned the engine clock wise would not budge. Then I turned it counter clock wise and it turned. Next I started the engine and this clanking sound like something was bouncing all around inside the front part of the engine while engine was on then I turned it off. Could it be a ball bearing in timing chain cover. Can it be timing chain tensioners.3 months Prior to all this the dealer told me that my timing chain tensioners may be going bad and I have a hydralic lifter slightly ticking from the diver side head when I took it in for oil change service.I checked the oil pressure my self and is 65 psi. What other symtoms can cause this type of engine failure and what should I inspect when I take off the timing chain cover. I do not Know too much a about lincolns. Can I get somebody to contact me and I'll pay them to do the work.

When you take the cover off, you just have to inspect everything carefully. Since this noise is so loud it should not be too hard to figure out what was causing it. It definitely could be the timing chain tensioners. You can just turn them by hand and see if they make any noise or are hard to turn.
