3.5 liter engine...starts then immediately stalls, if I keep the pedal depressed it will run, but rough. Under hood smell of gas... I checked for spark, which is good. Checked fuel pressure which is good. Checked engine compression which is good. No codes on computer, and no fuses are bad. Relays are all good. Checked cam and crank sensors for continuity and volts and they are good. The spark plugs have black carbon on them, which makes me believe the engine is running rich... I have no idea why this engine won't stay on.

Do you have a check engine light?

Have the idle speed control actuator checked/tested and also a fuel pressure check and refer to this in-house link: http://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-stalls

GLS model 3.5 has the actuator

There is a TSB for it, acts just like a Ford with a bad IAC, if you disconnect the throttle plate motor, tps, or pedal position sensor just turn key to run for less than 1 sec and then back to off, let sit for 20 sec. Car will relearn the idle speed

Yeah, I read about this... and I tried it... I had removed the plenum to get at a mounting bolt for the power steering pump... after I buttoned it back up the truck didn't start... I took everything off again re- checked all connections and then tried this procedure... Didn't work... I think maybe the timing jumped... I'll have to check it to be sure... I just wanted another take at this issue... I appreciate your help!
