Hi,

I recently bought used Ford Taurus and after few days it started showing service engine sign.I got it diagnosed and it said p1506 and P0401. I took it to mechanic he replace some hose, some valve and reset the light. Now after 3 days light has again come on and code is P1506. I again took it to mechanic but that guy says I could not locate the error as it was not overspeeding and Idle speed and RPM was below 1000. Please help me, what I should I do. Light is on and inspection is due in one month, are these guys fooling me they have already charged 300$ from me

Thanks
Ash

For Continuous Memory Only DTC P1506: Check For Vacuum Leaks
DTC P1506 is set when PCM detects engine idle speed is more than desired RPM. Possible causes are:
IAC Circuit Short To GND
Damaged IAC Valve

Start engine and allow to idle. Listen for vacuum leaks. Inspect air inlet system from Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor to intake manifold for any of the following possible faults:
Cracked Or Punctured Air Inlet Tube
Loose Inlet Air Tube, IAC Tubes Or Air Cleaner Housing
Loose Or Damaged Throttle Body
Contaminated Or Damaged IAC Valve, Or Gasket
Faulty EGR Valve Or Gasket
Damaged Vacuum Supply Connector Or Hose(s)

Check entire intake air system for vacuum leaks. Repair as necessary.

Thank you for reply Sir,
Problem is I do not know anything about engine, I can take it too mechanic, last time he said he has fixed all the leaks, cleaned the valve but light is still on. Now I cannot trust any mechanic anymore-please suggest someone who can diagnose it perfectly and remove the problem.

I live in Frisco-Dallas-Texas

thanks
Ash
