I've recently replaced the headlight unit with non vw units - due to lense missing on one. However are compatible and UK approved units. They work and fit well and do the job. We're a nightmare to install but managed it.
However when removing the units there were levers to "release" the unit from the car. You pushed them up and the unit came out. However now the new units are installed I cannot get the levers to lock down on the unit to secure them.
I don't know whether this therefore leaves them unsafe and loose. This appears to be a very tight fit and to get them out I now have to reach into the engine and push the units out from behind.

What would you suggest? Thanks

Often after market parts are a poor fit, with out seeing the problem first hand, it appears that the levers should ne engaged to lock the lights in place, if they are not secured correctly, they may be out of alignment and a hazard to on coming drivers, I would look at the two units side by side to see if the new ones can be slightly modified to fit in and lock in securely.
