I have an 02 nissan maxima that is using about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. The car does not smoke and I can't find a leak anywhere. I've even put cardboard under the car and found no leaks, I've replaced the pcv valve. Any ideas?

There may be a oil ring that is letting some oil into the combustion chamber and you might not see such a minor amount of smoke. Check your coolant and see if there is any oil in it. If the car is running all right. The leak might be small. You can take the spark plugs out and check to see if there is one that has any oil residue. If you find one then the leak can come from a couple of things Valve stem seals or a weak oil ring or a bad head gasket.
