Ignition- key won't turn

For a few months, the key will not turn in ignition occasionally, usually in cold weather. After repeated quick in and out thrusting with the key, it would eventually start. Now the key won't turn MOST of the time.

Hello

The cheapest solution to try here is to spray WD40 or equivalent light oil into the ignition lock cylinder and work the oil in very well with your key. If this does not help, there are other very common reasons why this issue is happening. You can find this information at our Car Repair Troubleshooting page. Just follow the link below...

If that does not work you will need to replace the tumbler which is common here are the diagrams Below to get the job done.

If you need further assistance just let me know.

Cheers, Ken

Check engine on. Scanned it but codes wouldn't read because there was a possible blown fuse. Checked all the fuses and all were fine. Someone suggested the key on key off method, but I don't know what that is.

Your reader may be bad. There is a fuse for the cigarette lighter that controls the aldl connector.

Pull the code and give us the number so we can further help you

With a code reader. Read the instructions. If you cant, take it to autozone, pepboys or advanced, they do it for free.
