My diesel Jackaroo leaks oil from around the rear of the oil pan. It appears to have been removed at some time and black silastic or similar has been placed around the edge of the join but oil is seeping through.

I want to put a new gasket on. Can I take the pan off without lifting the engine and do I need to remove and braces/cross members, please

There is one bar that can be removed at the front of the engine, remove the exhaust and the sump should come off, I would be concerned that the rear main is ok, if this is leaking the transmission will have to be removed.
