2002 GMC Sierra Keyless Entry System

The keyless entry system quit working overnight. First thought, change the battery in the key fob, no change. Found instructions for programming the fob to the truck. Followed the instructions, the truck locks cycled as the instructions stated. System still does not work. What else can I check before taking it to the dealership?

Did you hold the lock and unlock down on the remote by the vechile for 5 seconds?Have you tried cleaning the buttons an board inside the remote with a tissue?

Yes, I held both buttons. After about 5 seconds, the door locks cycled correctly. I have cleaned the contacts. All of the locks work manually, just not with the fob.

Look at your local auto zone or other auto parts stores around you. See if they have a key fob tester on the counter?If they do test the fob if it tests good you will have to take it in to have it looked at.
