Fluctuating rpm while driving usually about 500 rpm or so for no reason. Rpm drops to zero rpm while stopped and will stall out, can maintain idle rpm with foot on accelerator while braking at a stop.I replaced the idle air control valve not to long ago, at that time it would just die applying the accelerator did not stop it from dying seemed to be the fix.

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? My first thought was the vehicle speed sensor, can't be sure at the moment?

Check engine light on
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
