It is a great car but recently started smoking because oil is shooting of a hose. Last year we had the turbo charger replaced and the mechanic said not to put any more money into car. We love this car and if it is wise to buy new engine we will. If the price of a rebuilt or used engine and the labor are below 3 grand then why not? Oh, it runs choppy but it does run and it kills every now and then but starts right back up. Thank you so much for your time

Does engine have too much blowby? Is oil coming out of hose it's not suppose to? Is engine compression low? Was it ever overheated? Maybe you could get second opinion?

If it is leaking from the turbo return pipe the just replace the seals. What I have seen also is the variable hub leak on these also and that would be way cheaper then an engine. Just dont forget to replace the front and rear cam seals when replacing hub since you will have access to all of them. Can you post a picture of the hose your talking about or where it is located?
