I have a 01 subaru outback with 145,000 miles. Lately I have detected the smell of burnt antifreeze in the car. I believe it is time to replace the heater coil. If this is correct can I do it myself. I am very handy with tools and have worked on cars before. Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks O1 subaru

It is possible the heater core is leaking and due for replacement.

The referigerant has to be recovered and A/C unit removed for this process. Do you have the appropriate tools for that?
