2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sound coming from engine

As I was coming back from a trip I noticed a sound coming from my car. It was a clicking sound, sounds kind of like when people put playing cards by the wheel of their bicycle. I was almost home so I kept driving and then the car turned off. I was able to turn it on and just barely made it back (where it turned off again). I waited a little and checked the oil, there was no oil. The last time I had an oil change was about 4,000 miles ago (late July). I poured in oil and the sound is still there, it speeds up as I rev the engine. The oil now seems to be leaking out of the exhaust pipe, I also think I poured too much oil because when I pull out the stick to check the oil it is well above the two dot range. I really do not know what to do, I don't have the money to just simply go anywhere, I don't have any trusted mechanics in the area which worries me, and I don't want to mess up the car even more by driving it to the mechanic.

Thank you very much for your time.

Do you think it is ok to drive it to a mechanic or will I have to get it towed?

At least fill the oil to proper level and if mechanic is within 5 miles any damage that has been done won't get much worse.
