My car has does not start all the time. This happend about once every 2 days for about 3 months. Today it would not start at all. When I turned it on it buzzed (never heard before) and dinged (lk I left keys in there) and gauges were going crazy. Then with no key in ignition and a/c off, the fan was going on and off. I jump started it and there was smoke coming from either battery or electrical box, not sure. But it started and ran w/h clicking noise and service engine light now on. Fuel gauge is stuck pointed down. Also notices clicking noise coming from electrical box. I took to Sears auto and they would touch it. Thank you!

Okay. I can understand why sears wanted to run (LOL). The first thing I recommend is to check where the clicking noise is coming from. If it is the power distribution box under the hood, it could be something as simple as a relay that fried. Check for evidence of anything that has overheated (since you saw smoke).

Let me know what you find with that. As far as the inst cluster, I have to be honest, they have a history of going bad and needing replaced. However, since the problems happened at the same time, it still may be good.

Check what I mentioned and let me know what you find.

Ok I found no sign of any excesive heat visually and I could not smell any thing at any junction I did see the fuel guage was stuck down being held by the bezel I tapped and it releasesd I did find that when the car is shut down the interior has a courtesey delay on electronics once the door is opened the elect shuts down dome the radio the lights when engauged by photo when they time out the temp guage and the fuel guage both climb excesivley temp at just above normal and fuel at level then when key is inserted into ignition all guages drop to rest position looked at schematics found the bcm is connected to both the ground pack /cluster and the main comunication system / network all trouble shooting has led to bcm I am her boyfriend im just trying not to shot gun this part if you have any new thoughts I would appreciate them. Check the grounds first. If they are good, you need to have the bcm tested. Let me know what you find.
