Jumper cables were hooked up backwards

2001 escort coupe jumper cables were hooked up backwards and it blew fuses the alt, put new alt on new battery and new fuses the car runs and charges but the wipers stay on and the fuel gauge not working low fuel light on I am trying to fix this for a friend.

Now the wipers run in the off position and the fuel gauge not working low fuel light on.

You have damaged the electricaL system with the power surge. You will most likely need to replace many pieces as they start to fail from the surge.
You should let a shop examine the damage for you and verify failures. The wiper motor, switch and fuel sender unit are most likely effected by this issue.
