My driver side power seat is operable but is really malfunctioning

My driver side power seat is malfunctioning. For instance when I hit the seat position 1 button, the seat will move into the EXIT position and vice versa. Or when I hit any seat button the radio or heater will turn on or off. The driver side heated seat reacts the same way. In sum, nothing is working correctly with this seat (and steering wheel). I should tell you that as the service engine soon light came on and the heating/ac hadn't worked right in months, I finally broke down and took the car to my mechanic, whom I trust. He made the following repairs: replace worn front motor mount and cradle, replace air injection pump and melted pig tail connector, replace leaking water pump and thermostat. Now, the service engine light is off and the heat/ac is working like new, but they couldn't figure out what was going on with the seat. I'd hate to have to go to the dealer as the problem seems like a minor nuisance but I like it better when things work right and I want to be sure that I'm not heading for a major problem by not having the matter addressed.
