Buick Regal Spark Problem
Was driving and the car just shut off and then would crank but not start. So far have replaced the water pump, cat converter, fuel filter, alternator and battery, throttle positioning sensor,. Mechanic has done diagnostic test - nothing came up. Car will start and run for 5-10 minutes and then shut off. Noticed a couple of months ago that the RPM's revved between 2-3000 between 50 -70 miles an hour on the highway. Please help.

Engine cranking, did you visually check for spark at the spark plugs? Did the mechanic check anything besides trouble codes? They didnt check for spark and fuel pressure, at least?

they have checked both the spark and fuel pressure. Both are fine. They are stumped. They don't want to drop the gas tank to get at the fuel pump unless absolutely necessary

The mechanics actually looked at your vehicle, I cant see anything from here. Other than check the basics. They have to test when problem is ongoing or they can't find anything.
Intermittent problems can be hard to find.
