My heat

I drive a 2001 525I BMW and every time I cut on my heat the air is cold and stay that way for a while is there something wrong with my heating?

Well this could be a combination of things.

First see if you have enough coolant in your system, if there isnt enough it is unable to help get heat for you heater because it has to use all of it to keep the car in range of normal operating temp.

If that is all fine, then check to see if you have any leaks on the ground as you could have a leaking heater core. This is how the heater is able to get warm and allow heat to be made for the accessory.

If that is fine, then check your thermostat, it may need changing.

This has been going on about 7 mos, also when I turn on my Air the same thing happens also.

The air handling system in your BMW has the ability to be scanned with the proprietary BMW scan tool called a GT-1. This will pinpoint the issue and help eliminate the guesswork. Have your BMW technician perform this scan and the results should guide the repairs.
