The transmission will not shift after going 100 miles

Saturn 2000 sl2, going down the road the automatic transmission sticks and engine speeds up but the speed does not in crease, what should I do?
I have to stop and put the care in neutral and set the key to accessory and disconnect the battery and count to ten and reconect the battery then I can go for another 100 miles till it does it again what is wrong?

Sounds like the the clutch plates are fried. Automatic I know, torque converter. I have no idea what the rain dance does to help though. Probably more temperature related than the routine of disconnecting things and such. Where are you, I can suggest some awesome shops on the east to look at it. Have your codes scanned for free at the auto parts store just to make sure it isnn't something stupid, I'm not expecting anything easy though. Sorry

Just to add to this one sounds like it could be a pressure issue too little of it caused by a worn sticking pressure regulator in the valve body. Very common on those S model saturns most transmission shops want to rebuild the transmisson because of low pressure in the transmission. Do you have a delay in reverse?Also please have the car scanned for codes and post the exact code numbers not the code descriptions.

Also a restricted cat can cause the transmission to not shift on those cars. As well as too little of transmission pressure.
