I have a mercury villager 2000 and I am trying to program a new keyless remote. It say to take key in and out of the ignition atleast 6 times and he lights will flash. I cant get past this step.

If the lights flash. put the key in and turn it on without starting the engine. press any button on the remote once { more than once and it will fail }. turn the key off and remove it. Done
