Instruments went out - i.e. radio display, heated seats button stopped lighting up, air controls stopped working - i.e. blowing hot air, etc. What's going on? Is this a fuse or what?

The entire dash area starting with the radio and below is not working. The radio is completely out - the a/c controls are lighted up with the exception on the heated seats buttons.

sounds like an issue with the cluster. you need an electrical shop to help you out. the electronics in a bmw are not the same as most cars. be very carefull what you touch.
