What does ETS stand for?
I bought a 1999 volvo S70 GLT about 3 mo.s ago. The ETS light is coming on, but the manual they gave me is for a '98 and makes no mention of it. The dash light section of the manual just says 'space not used'. What is ETS; please?

Go to Volvos website. Here http://www.volvocars.com/us/top/yourvolvo/volvo-vehicle-information-library/pages/default.aspxis the link.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select year and make of your vehicle. Select owners manuel and you can read the manuel for your vehicle there. To answer your question, it stands for Electronic Throttle System. When the light comes on, it indicates there is a problem with the electronic throttle module. You should take it in to Volvo for proper diagnostic, especially if it will need a new throttle module. Replacing the unit requires new software to be downloaded to the new unit. The repair is prett expensive as well if the unit has failed. At least around a $1000.00
