Jetta was being driven, and a dry rotted coolant coupler broke, blew coolant all over. Two weeks later I finally got the part, replaced it, replaced the lost coolant, and now it won't start. It cranks, it seems like it gets close to starting, but won't.

Check to see if the engine is getting spark. It should be a hot blue snapping spark.

Ok I wasn't able to find a diy link. But now the jetta starts for a few moments. It doesn't sound healthy tho, and as soon as you touch the gas pedal it stalls.

You need to check pump pressure and spark. Something tells me the fuel pressure is weak.
