I have a Pontiac Montana 1999. My car overheats The temp gauge registers all the way over to 240 and I am losing power to the van when this happens, yet no water loss at all.

Hello,

This sounds like you have a stuck thermostat does it make a thumping noise when the engine is overheating?

Here are two guides to help you see what you are in for when changing the thermostat and checking an over heating engine.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-thermostat

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-overheating-or-running-hot

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken
