Pontiac Grand Am Body Problem

When I start the car it starts fine when I give it gas and keep it above 1000 RPM's but if I let off the pedal it dies...I can start it up with no problem...same if I am driving it..have to keep foot on pedal to keep it running..do you know what is going on? Oil level is good...

Clean the throttle body and iac/idle air control. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.
