Cannot start my car

I have a 1999 nissan maxima that I cannot start, my son can get it started sometimes after several turns of the ignition. What can this be?

Is the starter cranking the engine over normally when this happens?

Once it gets cranked yes it would seem so

I'm asking if you have having a starter probem or a "crank, no start"

You could have a bad starter, neutral switch, ignition switch, relay or related wiring.

Would it be the starter if sometimes it cranks?
