1999 Ford Explorer temp. Gauge issue

The other day the thermostat housing froze and busted on my vehicle and I replaced the housing and the sensors now the heat gauge doesn't work when the vehicle is in operation but when you cut it off it shows the proper temp. Note: it was working properly before the housing busted.

It sounds like the new sensor may be wrong. Double check the part number and location for the temp sensor.

Is the connection good, no loose plugs or bare wires?

All the connections are good and as far as I can tell no bare wires everything is in wire loom

Is the old sensor intact? I would try putting the old one back in and see if anything changes.I still think this is a sensor issue.

Crazy thing is it stated with the old one and still having the same problem

You may very well have a faulty cluster. That would require some very specific testing and equipment to determine.
