What could be causing my engine to stall?

1999 chevy suburban C1500 keep stalling. Auto zone checked it and said it was not reading a problem. Replaced fuel pump a little over a year ago. When husband pulls on wires for pump it starts. Fuel gauge is also not working.

I would check more into the wires that make it start. Sounds like a connection problem or a wire that is broken or something. This is what I would check first.
