I looked at the 5.3L, with coil near plug, check primary voltage at coil, pink wire goes hot with the key on. Use a testlite to check for voltage. Go from there. Here is a guide

Can you check for applicable codes?

Did you check for primary voltage at ignition coil? How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes, yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader. Your local autostore should have one.

Just to add, the pink wire at the coil is primary voltage, goes hot with the key on. That is a fused circuit, ecm 1 fuse--20 amp under the hood fuse box.

You got spark now you need fuel -Check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/regulator and fuel filter

Hi. I have an Express 1500 Van 5.7 Engine. Every now and then it would not start like it wasn't getting any fire. And then I would wait a day or 2 and I would start. Now it won't start and I took the engine cover off and put a screw driver in a Plug wire to check for Spark I'm getting no spark on the Plugs.

GOt any idea what it might be?
Thanks,
Craig

Cap and rotor issues are very common on these vehicles, inspect them very closely and if you do replace them use O.E. ONLY PARTS. Trust me on this one
