I am attaching the entire process below on how to replace this differential. However, if you are going to this extent then we should service the transmission while you are there.

Please see this guide that will help with this:

Please see the attached info for more details on this. Please run through this info and let me know what questions you have.

Thanks

My car recently stop while I was driving on the expressway. It made a loud noise and it was not able to accelerate. I was able to start the engine but when I put it in gear it makes a terrible noise. The transmission company says its the front differential and not the tramsmission they just put in last March.
What are your thoughts. How much do you think it should cost to replace the differential? What is the likeness of it being the differential compared to the transmission? I appreciate your information. Thanks

how do you fix it how much it cost to fix

Without examining it my self, I would assume he could be correct. Since it is not part of the trans, it may have failed

get a second opinion to verify. Pricing depends on the failure which you wont know till it is removed and examined.

You need to disassemble and find the bad parts, replace as needed. If you have never done this operation, leave it to a trans shop.

The most common fault for this would be a stripped transfer shaft spline. The differential would mostprobably need to be replaced.
