1998 Chevrolet Metro Repair Question

My dad has a 98 that has a accelerating problem recently changed the throttle linkage

When he pushes the gas to the floor it is slower than normal to take off but revs up

my dad got the ecu and it runs fine now really didnt expect that to be the problem though.
