Battery drains dead

I have put a new battery and positive cable on my 97 neon and battery still drains dead. I took off the neg cable and took a test light to the cable and battery post the test light lit for a second. Then dint light again.I put the battery cable on and waited a while and did the test again and the light comes on a gain. It dosent stay on. I pulled most of the fuels and still have the same problem. Pleasae could you help me.

Use an ammeter instead of the test lite-this will tell you more

As a temp measure until you cure you could install a battery switch or just disconnect till needed.
