1997 Mercury Marquis Knocking noise on engine

I started my car and heard a knocking noise on the engine. I checked the oil and its ok but when I rev the engine up the knocking noise gets a lil louder. I recently replace the engine on it. I can hear the noise on the left hand side valve cover.
