When I drive my Wrangler it starts out fine but then after a while one by one the electrical stuff all starts to go out. Stereo, then guages, then headlights until its just me driving in the dark. What is wrong with my poor Wrangler and what can I do to fix it?

Check your power distributions fuses and the automatic shutdown relay. Also have your ignition switch checked to see if it gets power then puts it out when it does this. Lastly clean all grounds to body, eng, battetc. And clean teh battery terminals.

I would also have the charging system tested. It sounds like it may not be keeping up with the consumption.

UN-JEWG YOUR BATTERY

UN-JEWG = TAKE THE BATTERY COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM YOUR RIG!

THIS IS THE "BIG THING" OR "IMPORTANT PART"

INSTALL A FULLY CHARGED (YOUR "IF GOOD") OR NEW BATTERY...DON'T MATTER

INSURE CHARGING SYSTEM WORKS....A POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORE WILL USUALLY DO THIS FOR FREE MOST OF THE TIME

THIS IS WHAT'S GOING ON

YOUR "RUN DOWN" BATTERY (LEFT LIGHTS ON, ETC) OR "BAD" BATTERY (EVEN A NEW BATTERY CAN BE BAD) MADE THE COMPUTER GO HAYWIRE WHEN IT RECEIVED LOW VOLTAGE

JUMPING YOUR RIG WITH JUMPER CABLES, MAY FIRE YOU UP, AND IT MAY DRIVE OK

.........BUT

MR. COMPUTER WAS/ IS STILL HAYWIRE, FROM THE VOLTAGE DROP INITIALLY

UN-JEWG-ING MR. BATTERY AND A...MAYBE 10 MINUTE WAIT, SHOULD RESET MR. COMPUTER

THEN INSTALL YOUR FULLY CHARGED BATTERY

OFF TO THE PARTS STORE---TESTING!

IF THE BATTERY RUNS DOWN OR CHARGING SYSTEM CAN'T CHARGE IT CORRECTLY AND SHOULD DROP VOLTAGE AGAIN

GUESS WHAT?

SAME THING WILL HAPPEN!

MORAL OF STORY--BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM MUST BE GOOD, BATTERY MUST BE DISCONNECTED SO THE COMPUTER WILL RECOGNIZE FULL/ CORRECT VOLTAGE

ALSO, LIKE AT THE TOP--A BAD CONNECTION CAN CAUSE A VOLTAGE DROP. THIS LINK MAY DESCRIBE THE "DRILL SERGEANT" VERSION...SS JAN 5 AT THIS POST

YES, THIS MAY HAVE BEEN "TOUCHED" ON BEFORE......NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY!

EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A WRANGLER, YOU DID THE VERY BEST YOU COULD DO FOR THIS DAY AND TIME. A "REAL JEEP" HOOD SHOULD ONLY BE RAISED FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND TO SHOW OFF THE ENGINE TO "WANNA BEs"......(I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT ONE OF THEM STATION WAGON LOOKING JEEPS)

RETURN WITH WONDERFUL NEWS!!! (OR WE WILL CONTINUE)

.......AND YOU OWE ME LUNCH! (WE'LL DRIVE ONE OF MINE, THEY'RE NOT SO COMPLICATED)

THE MEDIC
