The oil light is on the oil is full and brand new and its not leaking and my car is making a funny noise!
how much should it cost to replace an oil pump on a 1997 ford taurus

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings.

might not be bad oil pump but oil pump drive pin is sheared at synchronizer which is part of cam sensor.
