Loss of power

Loss of power suddenly, check engine light came on. No matter how much gas I give it I can only do about 20-30 mph. The engine raddles a bit also on my 97 ford contour with 113,000 miles since this happened. Before this the car ran great, quick pickup. Car has no power now with an engine raddle when I give it gas. Will start and idle. Can drive it no more than about 30 mph.

Yep it sounds like you have a catalytic converter that has gone bad. It breaks apart and plugs the exhaust causing low power and the rattle. Here are a couple of guides to help us get the problem fixed.

and

Please let us know what happens and upload pictures of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
