My drivers door will not open because the mechanism that holds the door shut is broken. Any ideas or suggestion as to how I can solve this problem?

You will probably have to remove the drivers seat and remove the door trim, not easy from inside the car with the door stuck, but I doubt that you will get the trim off any other way.
