I have a 1996 Ford Thunderbird with 6 cyl and automatic trans. I drive this car and after awhile I have a problem with the oil. After it gets hot and I come to a stop, the oil gage drops to zero. If I put the car in neutral it goes back up an all is normal. It does not happen right away, only after I drive for awhile and come to a stop. I changed the oil thinking that the oil may have had trash in the oil filter screen is getting clogged up.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings
