Replace Ford Van door handle

I have a 1996 ford e250 15 passenger van. The right front outdoor door handle broke so I need to replace it. I have the new part, removed the rivets that hold the handle but my problem is how do you disconnect the outside door handle -to-latch rod from the latch so I can install the new one. I attached a picture of the latch/clip.

Once the door panel is removed and you access this clip, you will see that the rod is threaded. That is because this gives you adjustment. So you pull up on the yellow part of the clip that you cannot see in your picture. Just take a small flat head and pop that up where I am pointing at in your picture below with number 1. Then number 2 is the hinge that the clip opens on and then you can remove the rod.
