Stops acceleration while driving?

Every once in awhile all of a sudden there is no power in the gas pedal I keep pumping the pedal and then it will resume exceleration again feels like the car shuts down but doesn't seems to happen at around 55mph not everyday just randomly

Hello,

It sounds like you could have an issue with the throttle position sensor.
The TPS sends signal to the ECU of the position of the throttle and the ECU then provides the optimal fuel for the amount of air getting into the engine.
If the TPS does not work properly, it will send incorrect signal.
It could send signal as the throttle is at idle position but you are actually driving at highway speed.
When that happens the ECU will reduce fuel to the engine and you will loose power.
It can work intermittently on and off.
The TPS is located on the throttle body (see diagram below).
